Ryde Pier. Half a mile of emotion.

Gloria Minghella
Devastated to have to report the loss of my extraordinary Mum, Gloria, who died earlier today.
It has been a day of total heartbreak – and of much counting of blessings. Her warmth, her love, her intelligence, her grace, her delicious turn of phrase…. It’s a long and wonderful list.
You can imagine our pain. You cannot imagine our pride.
Please leave your memories of Gloria at minghella.com/gloria.
Photo of the Day – Anthony & Me
It’s that time of year when all those who loved Anthony are in touch, and I am so grateful for it.
Here’s one of Anthony directing his first film, the unreleased A LITTLE LIKE DROWNING, with ten-year-old actor me, on Ryde Pier in the late 1970s.
Brading Down or Fortnum’s?
Where would you rather treat your tongue, Brading Down, Isle of Wight – or Fortnum’s, Piccadilly?
Either way, one lick and it’s love!
Glad to see the Guardian agrees.
